It was a special day for more than 400 autistic kids from Progetto Filippide that on the 29th of November 2015, were the protagonists of the “Run For Autism”, the road race organized as the grand finale after a three-day event in Rome.
Joined by their instructors and over 2,000 athletes, running through the streets of the capital city, the boys and girls from all over Italy chose to run either the competitive race of 10 kilometers or the non-competitive 2.5 kilometers race, demonstrating how sport is able to integrate and raise public awareness.
The participation of the CONI President Giovanni Malagò and of Clara Vaccaro of the Social policies commission, was significant.
At its fourth edition, the event sponsored by the Filippide-Purosangue project, supported by Vodafone Italy Foundation, also raised funds towards helping children practice sports on a daily basis through the project “Autismo in Corsa” and to support scientific research.
All revenues coming from the subscriptions and from the sale of the limited edition customized “Run For Autism-Progetto Filippide” running shoe, adidas Supernova Glide Boost 7, was donated to charity.
The race was a success. A crowd of runners wearing the orange adidas t-shirt dedicated to the event, invaded the Tiber and the Olympic Village with colour, and ended in a lap within the Acquacetosa Paolo Rosi Stadium.
